Work Type
At Netflix, our mission is to entertain the world. As audience expectations shift from fixed catalogs toward adaptive, responsive storytelling, we are building the next chapter of content systems: generative experiences that remain emotionally resonant, culturally grounded, and operationally reliable at global scale.
The Generative Content Intelligence Division sits at the intersection of creative development, product, machine learning, and editorial strategy. We are responsible for how intent from members, creators, and business operators becomes high-integrity generative outcomes across concepting, production planning, and personalized experience delivery.
The role
We are looking for an executive leader to build and run this division as a durable cross-functional capability, not a one-off innovation initiative.
This role combines conceptual leadership and hands-on operating rigor: setting a coherent long-range vision, building multidisciplinary teams, and delivering artifact-driven programs that let leadership make faster, better bets under uncertainty. You will work across Product, ML, Content, Design, Strategy, Policy, and Communications to establish new operating standards for generative entertainment systems.
The strongest candidates pair technical fluency with deep creative practice and cultural judgment. They have built in multiple contexts including startup/founder environments and larger institutions. They are equally comfortable with prototypes, executive decision packages, and organization-wide alignment.
This role is open to U.S. remote candidates. Quarterly travel will be expected to offices in California (Los Angeles or Los Gatos), New York City, or Seattle for in-person planning and review cycles. Regardless of location, you will be expected to work Pacific Time hours.
What you'll do
Set and execute division strategy for generative content intelligence across member intent modeling, creative tooling, operational orchestration, and quality governance.
Build a high-performing multidisciplinary team spanning creative technology, narrative systems, product design, ML, research, and producer/ops execution.
Lead artifact-driven exploration cycles that convert ambiguity into decision-ready options, including prototypes, world fragments, and executive readouts.
Partner with Content and Product leadership to define where adaptive/generative experiences create durable member value rather than short-lived novelty.
Establish standards for editorial, cultural, and creative quality in generative systems, including global sensitivity, trust calibration, and narrative coherence.
Create portfolio-level evaluation frameworks for opportunity quality, early kill decisions, and conversion from experiments into funded pilots.
Develop external and internal partnership models with creators, studios, research groups, and ecosystem operators to accelerate capability development.
Represent the division in senior leadership forums and align cross-functional owners around sequencing, risk posture, and measurable outcomes.
The must-haves
15+ years of leadership experience across product, design, creative technology, research, or strategy functions in complex and fast-moving organizations.
Proven record building and scaling multidisciplinary teams that translate emerging technology into shipped experiences or operational systems.
Track record operating in both entrepreneurial/founder contexts and established institutions, with clear evidence of end-to-end ownership.
Strong technical fluency in modern AI/ML systems and product architecture, with enough depth to challenge assumptions and guide implementation tradeoffs.
Demonstrated excellence in artifact-led thinking: using prototypes and experiential artifacts to drive strategic alignment and decision quality.
Exceptional written and verbal communication, including executive storytelling that is concrete, concise, and decision-oriented.
Evidence of sustained creative practice (writing, filmmaking, photography, making, or adjacent disciplines) that strengthens leadership judgment and taste.
Ability to lead through uncertainty without defaulting to optimization-only thinking; comfort designing operating structure for unknowns.
Even better if you have...
Experience in media, entertainment, or content platforms, including editorial operations and creator ecosystems.
Published or public-facing work that demonstrates rigorous thinking about technology, culture, and future user behavior.
Background in humanities, STS, anthropology, history, or adjacent fields that deepen interpretation of social meaning in product decisions.
Experience running community-facing programs, workshops, or leadership forums that build shared language across diverse stakeholders.
Experience building generative UX systems in consumer products where narrative, trust, and personalization must work together.
Comfort developing repeatable expedition models: monthly exploration cycles, quarterly thematic programs, and clear conversion paths into roadmap action.
When evaluating your experience and skills we will be focusing on
Your ability to show an outstanding portfolio of systems-level work, including rationale behind strategic and creative decisions.
Your ability to connect conceptual vision to practical delivery plans with owners, timelines, and measurable checkpoints.
Your ability to collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders while preserving quality under speed and scale constraints.
Your ability to build trust across functions and maintain high standards for both invention and execution.
Your ability to form a credible long-term division capability, not just launch isolated initiatives.
Travel, location, and logistics
This role is open to U.S. remote candidates.
Quarterly travel is expected to offices in California (Los Angeles or Los Gatos), New York City, or Seattle for in-person collaboration.
Regardless of location, you are expected to work Pacific Time hours.
Relocation support is available for candidates moving near a hub office.
Visa sponsorship and transfer support are considered where legally and operationally feasible.
