Location: Hybrid - Kohler, Wisconsin (with regular on-site collaboration)
Kohler builds products that live at the intersection of infrastructure and intimacy: kitchens and baths, water systems, controls, service networks, and the physical spaces where people recover, work, and host. As these products become more connected and service-mediated, the differentiation is increasingly the experience: how a system behaves across people, devices, installers, technicians, and environments—especially when conditions are imperfect.
We are seeking an Experience Orchestrator to lead the definition and prototyping of end-to-end product-and-service experiences across Kohler’s connected portfolio. This role is for a builder of clarity: someone who can translate ambiguous goals into decision-grade artifacts, align cross-functional teams, and design experiences that are credible enough to guide investment, engineering, and rollout.
In this role you will
- Map the experience across humans, devices, software, and service operations—what the system does, what the human does, and how handoffs work under pressure.
- Run time-boxed expeditions that produce tangible artifacts: experience specs, journey maps grounded in operational reality, service blueprints, interactive prototypes, and “day-in-the-life” simulations.
- Identify value-creation opportunities by studying constraints and failure modes in the field (installation, maintenance, supply, training, customer support) and translating them into design and product direction.
- Design for real constraints: reliability targets, latency, offline modes, auditability, privacy boundaries, and the realities of homes, hospitality environments, and job sites.
- Produce buildable plans that engineering and operations teams can execute: phased roadmaps, evaluation plans, risk registers, and launch/readiness checklists.
- Partner with product, engineering, industrial design, and service teams to keep exploration and production aligned—fast learning without “prototype theater.”
- Establish a reusable orchestration pattern library (experience primitives, control surfaces, escalation paths, service scripts) that scales across product lines.
You might thrive if you
- Have 8+ years in service design, product design, product strategy, innovation, or adjacent roles where you shipped real systems (not just decks).
- Can lead ambiguous, multi-stakeholder work and land decisions with both executives and operators.
- Demonstrate the capability to orchestrate uncommon combinations: you can assemble the right mix of disciplines, constraints, artifacts, and stakeholders to move from uncertainty to action—rather than executing only a single specialist lane.
- Are fluent in prototyping as a decision tool (experience prototypes, scenarios, testable hypotheses) and can clearly state assumptions and tradeoffs in writing.
- Can span digital + physical contexts with comfort: devices, environments, logistics, and operational workflows (or a strong willingness to learn quickly).
- Bring a grounded approach to safety, privacy, and security in connected experiences, including misuse, escalation, and monitoring.
